Midweek fun. The “Famous” la liga fans

By: Shane | April 8th, 2008

To cheer myself up from last weekend horrible result I have created a list of famous figures that support a team in La Liga. And with this hopefully start a midweek post of randomness.
In no particular order

Barcelona
Josep carrera (tenor)
alex corretja
arantxa sanchez vicario (tennis players)
Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero (prime minister of spain)

Since Zapatero is from Valladolid, his choice is not, as it has been with previous prime ministers, a matter of constitutional preference. He chose Barca because he liked what he saw.
Jordi Puyol (politician)
Drew carey(actor)

kobe Bryant (US basketball star)
He has said that if he had stayed in Italy, he would have tried to become a professional soccer player, and that his favorite team is FC Barcelona. Bryant is a big fan of FC Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard and their star player Ronaldinho.

Real Madrid
Aznar and Rajoy (Politicians) ewwwww.
Antonio Banderas (Actor)
Placido Domingo (Tenor)
Julio Iglesias (Singer)
for a short period goalkeeper for the Real Madrid soccer team. In 1963, his career as a football athlete was cut short after a car accident.

Rafael Nadal (Tennis Star)

Kobe Bryant is an AC Milan fan first, he’s a Ronaldinho fan more than a Barcelona one, please don’t confuse the two. Drew Carey is also more of a Rangers fan.

Other Barcelona fans include Catalan singer Joan Manuel Serrat and tennis player Tommy Robredo.

Also on the subject of tennis players, David Ferrer and Marat Safin are both Valencia fans, though Ferrer also likes Barcelona.

How about El Arrebato for Sevilla? Since they did sing the centenario song.

And Rafa Nadal is also a Mallorca fan, though who knows who he supports most. He listed both teams in an interview with the BBC in 2006.

Ad Pau Gasol to the Barcelona list.

I also believe Pedro Almodóvar is an Atleti fan…I’m not positive but I’ve seen Atletico on the television in a few of his movies, granted most take place in Madrid but I’ve only seen Atleti.
